Kaveh Akbar

Kaveh Akbar is the author of the novel Martyr!, and his poems appear in The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Paris Review, The Best American Poetry, and elsewhere. He is the author of two poetry collections: Pilgrim Bell and Calling a Wolf a Wolf, in addition to a chapbook, Portrait of the Alcoholic. He is also the editor of The Penguin Book of Spiritual Verse: 110 Poets on the Divine. He lives in Iowa City. Since 2020, Kaveh has served as poetry editor for The Nation.

 

Guest Host | Ari Mokdad

 

Guest host Ari Mokdad is a Detroit-born choreographer, creative writer, and passionate educator. She received three Bachelor of Arts degrees from Grand Valley State University and completed her Master of Arts and doctoral studies at Wayne State University. In 2023, she received her Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College, where she was a former student of Kaveh Akbar. Ari is the education manager for the National Writers Series.
