Chance to Meet Renowned Illustrator Glenn Wolff at Brilliant Books on Saturday, Dec 21st

If Traverse City had an ‘artist laureate’, the leading candidate would probably be renowned artist and illustrator Glenn Wolff. On Saturday, December 21st from 2―5pm, Brilliant Books is offering you the opportunity to stop by, meet him, and have him sign any of his extensive body of work for you. He will be signing his posters, cards, and books, including his most recent collaboration with author Robert Sullivan, and national bestseller, A Child’s Christmas in New England.
Sullivan and Wolff’s picture book memoir of Christmas in the 1950s and 60s, A Child’s Christmas in New England, harkens back to time when the snow was always deep, there were bubblers on the Christmas tree, and the thrill of sled-racing in the freezing cold was just as anticipated each December as Santa’s arrival. The book has been getting some great national press, from the Boston Globe to Parade to Reader’s Digest. Gregory Maguire, author of the best-selling novel Wicked, praised it as “A brilliant and tender idea that works, I think, beautifully.” A Child’s Christmas in New England is the third collaboration between Wolff and Sullivan, who also worked together on the popular book The Flight of the Reindeer.
Wolff will also be signing the many books of Jerry Dennis he has illustrated, including their first collaboration, the stunning collection of natural history essays It’s Raining Frogs and Fishes: Four Seasons of Natural Phenomena and Oddities of the Sky, which was brought back into print by popular demand just this fall. It has been praised by the New York Times as “Charming, informative, humorous, and scholarly… embraces wind and weather, the sun, the moon and stars, the seasons of the year and the effect of these things on the denizens of this planet. It is a delight.” Copies signed by both the author and illustrator will be available.
Brilliant Books also sells Wolff’s gorgeously rendered posters and cards, which he will be more than happy to sign and personalize.
Wolff, who grew up in Traverse City, has worked as an illustrator for such renowned clients as the New York Times, the Village Voice, the Central Park Conservancy, and the New York Zoological Society. His mixed media fine art has been shown throughout the US and Canada and he has been a frequent artist-in-residence for environmental organizations throughout the Midwest.
This event is free and open to the public. Brilliant Books is located at 118 Front Street in downtown Traverse City. For more information, visit Brilliant Books online
