Write this way…. to romance. Celebrate Valentine’s Day with the National Writers Series in collaboration with Intimi. You, your instructor Audrey Irontree, and a handful of alluring strangers will meet at Intimi and figure out what makes romance stories tick, or pulse, or flutter. We’ll craft high stakes, build tension, and do our best to make eachother blush. We’ll look at examples of published work, classic heart-throbs and contemporary pieces alike, and then write our own romance stories, inspired, perhaps, by an included glass of champagne (NA option available, of course) and aphrodisiac bonbons. Bring something to write with, wear cute and cozy pjs, and get ready dish about your (fictional) crushes.
This 18+ class is open to all genders and writers of all experience levels.
The fee for this class is donated back to our education program, keeping our youth classes free, always, for every child who participates. If you want to take the class and the cost is a hardship, please email [email protected] for accommodations. If you want to be there, we’ll make it happen!
Audrey Irontree is the education director for the National Writers Series, and is a fiction writer, developmental editor, ghostwriter and educator. She received her Master of Fine Arts in Fiction degree from Northwestern University, her Bachelor of Arts from Brown University and her Associate Degree from The Bard College at Simon’s Rock.
Her short story, “Alligator,” is a runner-up for The 2025 Adrift Short Story Contest and is forthcoming shortly from Driftwood Press. Her story, “The Toad” recently appeared in the Portland Review, and “Koan” was featured in Meridian, University of Virginia’s literary journal. She lives in Traverse City, where she spends her time reading, or with her horse, or making slow but steady progress on a draft of a novel.
