Write this way to spooky season! Kick off the haunting Halloween vibes with fellow writers at this one-day horror writing workshop in partnership with Tank Space. We’ll meet in the Lunar Lounge and talk about what makes horror stories work- how to craft high stakes, build tension, and give our readers goosebumps. We’ll look at examples of published work, and then write our own horror stories, inspired, perhaps, by an included free drink token (NA option available, of course.) But we won’t just scare ourselves. At the end of class, Tank Space will open its doors for a community reading of our freshly-written frights, and we’ll have a Halloween costume party and contest! Costumes are optional for our wicked writers, but come dressed-up if you dare: the winner of the costume contest will get a free ticket to see Joe Hill at the City Opera House.
No prior writing experience necessary, just a willingness to write, get weird, and have fun.
