Meet True Crime Reporter Aphrodite Jones… and Hear Her Stories of the Nation’s Most Cunning Criminals

IF YOU DARE …
Join us for an evening of shocking reveals and “this can’t be true” mysteries with New York Times bestselling author Aphrodite Jones. As producer and TV host of Investigation Discovery’s True Crime with Aphrodite Jones, she has traveled to places we fear to tread and returned with bone-chilling secrets that might keep you up at night.

Aphrodite is one of the reigning queens of the true crime genre. She will give us a glimpse into her motivation of reporting on the most cunning and malevolent criminals—and why we read these cautionary tales.

In her 30-plus year career, Aphrodite has reported on  O.J. Simpson, Casey Anthony, Michael Jackson, Scott Peterson, and the unsolved case of JonBenét Ramsey. In her latest book, Levi’s Eyes, Aphrodite explores two killings—first a mother, then her son— murdered 17 years apart, by a husband and father whose unspeakable betrayal unraveled the thread that fatally linked them together.

The evening will also explore what it’s meant to Aphrodite personally to devote a lifetime investigating true crime and where she’s drawn her strength. She’ll also explain why she became an activist for victim’s rights.

Aphrodite will take the stage with Clark Bunting, the former president and general manager of Discovery Channel. He headed up Investigation Discovery and gave the green light for Aphrodite’s show, which ran for six seasons. It can now be watched on Discovery+. Bunting now serves as the chair of the NWS board.

FAQS:

Why do I have to buy a book with my tickets?
NWS will often include a book with every ticket (or two tickets). We sometimes bundle a book with a ticket to lure a high-profile author to our fine small town. This is now a common practice with authors on book tours—their publishers require the bundle, not only to introduce the author to his or her readers, but also to sell books. Please note, all books are 20 percent off.

What if I already purchased the book?
If you already have the book, the book with your ticket makes a great gift for friends and family. Or, you can donate your book by contacting our office manager at [email protected]. If you can’ afford to buy the book with a ticket, please use the code BookChampion (one word) when buying a virtual or in-person ticket.

Is this event kid friendly?
Most of our events are not appropriate for children.

Aphrodite Jones

Aphrodite Jones knows true crime. A bestselling author and TV persona, Jones is known as someone who doesn’t sugar-coat her opinions on controversial murder cases. Always with her finger on the pulse, her true crime books have inspired real-life films including the Academy Award-winning film, Boys Don’t Cry, the ABC movie, Betrayed By Love, and  Lifetime film The Staircase Murders, a story that later became the subject of the hit Netflix docu-series The Staircase.

In her true crime books, Jones brings readers deep into the mind of a killer, revealing the dark motives of a sociopath and the failures of those who unwittingly allowed a monster to hide in plain sight. Her mission is to bring a form of catharsis to the victim’s families, to unravel the “why?” and to write cautionary tales that might help prevent a future tragedy.

In addition to writing a string of bestselling true crime books, Jones created the hit ID series, True Crime with Aphrodite Jones, which ran for six seasons on Investigation Discovery, airing in 90 countries around the world. All 63 episodes of TCAJ can be seen on Discovery+

Throughout her illustrious career, Jones has covered the high-profile trials of O.J. Simpson, Casey Anthony, Scott Peterson, Michael Jackson, and drug kingpin El Chapo Guzman. Her newest book, Levi’s Eyes: A Son’s Deadly Secret and A Father’s Cruel Betrayal, became an instant bestseller on Amazon and has been featured on Dateline NBC, FOX Nation, and on ABC’s 20/20  “The Sins of the Father.”

Jones is an activist for victim’s rights and has given keynote addresses to The Child Rescue Coalition, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County, The American Polygraph Association, The FBI Citizen’s Academy, and was the inaugural speaker at CrimeCon, which continues to draw thousands of participants and top luminaries from every spectrum of the true crime world.
